If you are reading this you are probably wondering how to activate the WiFi on my laptop? In this tutorial, we explain step by step and with images. Recently we talked about the error message The wireless functionality is disabled which is very related to this because that problem is presented when the WiFi is disabled and the Windows troubleshooter is running.

In this tutorial, we explain how to activate the WiFi of your notebook or laptop, no matter the brand and steps work on all versions of Windows. Whether Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10.

How to activate my laptop’s WiFi step by step

First, you have to verify if your laptop has a physical button to activate and deactivate the WiFi. This button usually has the symbol of a signal antenna and comes with a led that lights when the WiFi is activated. Sometimes also the button to activate or deactivate the WiFi is included in one of the function keys (F1, F2, F3, ect).

You realise that because that button has an antenna icon. Pressing this button together with the Fn button on your laptop will activate or deactivate the WiFi.

When you make sure you have it enabled by that path then we will check on the operating system. Go to Control Panel and then click where it says “Network and Sharing Center”. You can also right-click the connection icon that appears in the taskbar on the right and then click “Network and Sharing Center.”

Then click “Change adapter settings“.
