In our previous article, we talked about how to disable Cortana with gpedit on Windows 10 Pro version. And in this article, we will be talking about how to disable Contana through regedit.
Because your Windows is a Home version that’s why you don’t have group policies option (gpedit). So here, we will follow another way of disabling Cortana on Windows 10.
You might have your own reason why you want disable Cortana on Windows 10, and we will not talk about the pros and cons of it. So here is how to disable Contana through regedit.
- Click on Start and type regedit. (Or, press Windows + R and type regedit)
*Then a message should appear. Hit YES.
- After go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then “SOFTWARE” then “Policies” then “Microsoft” then “Windows“.
You should see another folder in it saying “Windows Search“. If you don’t see it, then on the top of “Windows” folder, right click then “New” then “Key“.
Rename it to “Windows search“. Once you have got that, then go over to the right side and right click on empty space and click on “DWORD (32 – bit) Value”.
Then rename it to “Allow Cortana” and double click on it (or Enter) and where you see “Value data”, make it 0.
That’s it. Simply restart you PC/Laptop and Cortana will be disabled.
