In this article I will explain how to hide files and folders on Android. Before we talked about How to hide Android applications which was aimed to hide only app icons but not the files like photos, videos, documents, among others. For that, we have this separate tutorial that explains it in detail on how to hide files and folders on Android.
There are many applications to hide files and folders and as I explained, all types of files can be hidden like photos, videos, .apk files, documents, among other things. In this case, we will use an App called “File Hide Expert“. You can search the Google Play Store from your mobile phone. Currently, it holds 2.6MB and has more than 5 million downloads and with an average rating of 4.1 based on 49,929 which makes it somewhat reliable.
Steps to hide files and folders on Android
Download the application and execute it. The process to hide the desired files and/or folder as follows.
- Open the App.
- Select the folder icon at the top right. (image 1)
- Find the directory or location where the files and folders are located and check next to it and click the “OK” button.
- Then select the button that says “HIDE ALL” and you’re done.
Applications that are already hidden, you will see them with an orange check. It would look like the picture below.
If the user goes to the folder where the files were, you will not be able to see them unless you show them again from the “File Hide Expert” application.
So it would be before and after searching the files from the Android file browser.
The App fulfils what it promises and it is not necessary to be rooted to use it.
